THIS IS HOW CASA VOLUNTEERS MAKE A POSITIVE, SIGNIFICANT IMPACT

"Sometimes he tells me he's very lonely and has no one to talk to. During this past visit he said, 'I know I can always talk to you because you listen and hear what I have to say.' I knew at that moment our connection was strong and that the past 6 months of advocacy meant the world to him." - Lisa L., CASA volunteer

In commemoration of Child Abuse Prevention Month this April, CASA of Somerset, Hunterdon and Warren Counties - CASA SHaW - is launching our Pinwheels of HOPE for Foster Youth campaign, providing the opportunity for local businesses, governments, churches, and other stakeholders to sponsor a pinwheel garden to show their solidarity with ameliorating the blight of child abuse in our collective community. The goal is to raise awareness of child abuse and to help support the important work we do on behalf of abused and neglected foster children.

Child abuse and neglect is real and, tragically, remains a heartbreaking problem right here in our region. According to the National Children’s Alliance, more than 700,000 children in the United States are victims of abuse every single year.

CASA Volunteers help ensure each foster child's best interests remain the priority while working toward a safe, stable, and permanent home for each child – something many of us take for granted – while working hand-in-hand with the Judiciary Family Court, Department of Children & Families Division of Child Protection & Permanency, Office of the Public Defender, and other stakeholders in order to create a cooperative environment that best meets the needs of each child depending on us.

For more information about Pinwheels of HOPE, please reach out to our Director of Development, Ellen Davis, at ellen@casashaw.org.

Join us this year as we launch Pinwheels of HOPE for Foster Youth!
